A manhunt is underway after a teenager was attacked by a group armed with machetes at a busy dining strip in Melbourne’s southeast.
The incident unfolded about 7.45pm on Friday outside Vanilla Lounge at Eaton Mall in Oakleigh.

Victoria Police said a large group of offenders wearing balaclavas approached people seated outside the dessert bar before assaulting an 18-year-old man.
“Monash Crime Investigation Units detectives are investigating a stabbing in Oakleigh last night,” police said.
“It is believed a group of approximately 12 people were seated outside a business at Eaton Mall when they were approached by a large group of unknown offenders wearing balaclavas about 7.45pm.
“At least two of the offenders produced machetes and assaulted an 18-year-old Malvern East man.”
Witnesses reported chaotic scenes as the attack unfolded, with diners fleeing the area.

A second teenager was also caught up in the incident but sustained no physical injuries.
The attackers fled the scene on foot and remain on the run.
Detectives believe the attack was targeted, with the parties known to each other.
Increased patrols are planned to reassure the community.
